Carol Louise (Tilley) Karnes McCool

Carol Louise (Tilley) Karnes McCool, 93, of Fort Gibson, was born May 7, 1926 in Yakima, Washington to Luther Augustine and Leda Myra (Rowin) Tilley and peacefully passed away Friday, February 21, 2020 in Fort Gibson with her loving family by her side. Carol received her formal education in Welch, OK and graduated from Welch High School. She made Fort Gibson her home for the last 60 years. She loved working in her flower garden, tending to her favorite flower, roses. Carol also had a passion for sewing, art and was an excellent baker. Her love of music was evident in the number of musical instruments she was well versed in like the organ, harmonica and even the accordion. She was a member of the Christian Church in Fort Gibson for many years. Her legacy of music, love and devotion will live on through her family. Carol is lovingly survived by her sons; Johnie Dee Karnes Jr. and his wife Jennie, Luther Joe Karnes and his wife Jeanette; daughters, Linda Arnett, Kathy Carter and her husband Sam; 14 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren, extended family and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Johnie Dee Karnes; husband, Bill McCool; son, Billy Dee Karnes; son in law, Billy Glen Arnett; grandson, Luther Joe Karnes; great granddaughter, Haley Sue Carter; sisters, Peggy, Betty and Shirley and her brothers, Luther and Noan; stepson, Floyd McCool. Mrs. Carol Karnes McCool will lie in state from 10AM-5PM Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home. A family visitation will be Wednesday, February 26, 2020 with family receiving friends from 5PM-7PM at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home in Fort Gibson. A service Celebrating Carol’s life will be 12:30PM Friday, February 28, 2020 at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Gibson, OK. with Pastor Don Branscum officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow at Fort Gibson National Cemetery with Sam Carter III, John Carter, Billy Arnett, Brian Karnes, Adam Karnes and Garrett Arnett serving as casket bearers. Ivan Karnes will serve as honorary casket bearer.
