Connie Darlene Melton

Connie Darlene Melton, 51, of Fort Gibson was born in Muskogee on May 12, 1972 to Wayne Royse and Mozell (McElmurry) Royse and peacefully passed away Friday, July 28, 2023. After graduating Fort Gibson High School, Connie started her career at Fort Gibson Schools as a Child Nutrition Clerk. She loved her job and had many bonus kids throughout her 22-year career. She married her best friend Jerrod Melton on March 2, 1996 in Muskogee. They made their home in Fort Gibson where they raised their children. She enjoyed going to yard sales and flea markets. Connie was an avid fisherwoman. Her home life was filled with spoiling her grandchildren and her four dachshunds’ dogs. Connie’s life was full of love and devotion for her family and her extended school family. She will be truly missed. Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Mozell Royse; and her nephew Jason Stewart. Connie is lovingly survived by her husband, Jerrod Melton of Fort Gibson; sons, Richie Melton and wife Amber, Jeffery Melton, and Tommy Melton, all of Fort Gibson; grandson, Jake Melton; granddaughter, Lizzy Melton; sisters, Kathy Reich and husband Nick, Tammy Martin and husband Jimmy, and Shelly Brooks and husband Scott; brother, Jeff Royse and wife Whitney; brothers in law, Danny Melton, and Joey Melton; mother in law, Linda Melton; her beloved four dogs, Peanut, Belle, Blue, and Sadie; many nieces; nephews; extended family; and many friends. Viewing for Connie will be 12PM-7PM, Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home in Fort Gibson. A celebration of Connie’s life is scheduled for 10AM, Thursday, August 3, 2023 at Crescent Valley Baptist Church, Tahlequah with Pastor Sam Dunn officiating. Michael Reich, Milo McElhaney, Lane Dortch, Nick Reich, Joey Melton, and Jeff Melton will serve as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers are Jake Melton and Zayne Reich.
