Dennis Gordon Crittenden

Dennis Gordon Crittenden, 76, of Fort Gibson, born April 4, 1949, to Elmer Gordon and Pearl Pauline Crittenden in Blackwell, Oklahoma. He passed from this life on October 24, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Dennis was an amazing man, devoted husband, proud father, beloved grandfather, and faithful friend. He married the love of his life, Becky, on February 12, 1971, in Blanchard, Oklahoma, and together they shared over 54 years filled with love, laughter, and family. A proud Veteran, Dennis served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, achieving the rank of SP5 before his discharge in 1970. His sense of duty and patriotism never faded, and he continued to support fellow veterans through his longtime membership in the Frank Gladd American Legion Post 20 of Fort Gibson. Dennis built a remarkable career with AT&T/Southwestern Bell, where he worked in telecommunications for 37 years before retiring in 2009. During retirement, he was a hardworking, dependable man who took pride in every task he set his hands to by sharing his knowledge and skills to help others. Outside of work, Dennis lived a life full of purpose and joy. He was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Fort Gibson and was known for his gentle spirit, humor, and generosity. Dennis loved God, his family, and especially his three granddaughters. His many hobbies reflected his creative and industrious nature: woodworking, leather tooling, barbecuing, gardening, tinkering with cars and motorcycles, and participating in American Legion activities. He was happiest when working with his hands or spending time outdoors, especially when surrounded by those he loved. Dennis will be remembered as a man of integrity, faith, and quiet strength. A man who served his country, worked hard, loved deeply, and lived humbly. His legacy of love, craftsmanship, and service will continue to inspire all who knew him. Dennis is survived by his devoted wife, Becky, of the home; son, Eric and wife Jennifer Crittenden of Morrison, Colorado; son, Bryan and wife Erynn Crittenden of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; granddaughters, Kayla and Brittany Crittenden of Morrison, and Emma Crittenden of Tahlequah; brother, Danny and wife Wanda Crittenden of Salina, Oklahoma; and several nieces and nephews who will always cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Barbara Sandborn; and his son, Brent Crittenden. Viewing for Dennis will be 11AM-5PM, Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home in Fort Gibson. A celebration of life will be held 2PM, Thursday, October 30, 2025, at the First Freewill Baptist Church in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma with Brother Tommy Honeycutt officiating. Jarrod Lee, Logan Lee, Christopher Wise, Seth O’Neal, Michael Duke, and Ryan Duke will serve as casket bearers. A committal service will follow at Citizens Cemetery, Fort Gibson, where military honors rendered by Frank Gladd American Legion Post 20 of Fort Gibson will be observed.
