Gerald L Glass Sr

Gerald L Glass, 72, was born December 7, 1942 in Tahlequah, OK to Joshua and Lola (Maddox) Glass and peacefully entered heavens gates Thursday, January 8, 2015 in Tahlequah with his loving family by his side. Gerald grew up in Sallisaw, OK where he attended school. Gerald joined the United States Air Force and received an honorable discharge in 1960. Gerald met the love of his life, Zelma Acker and they were married on October 5, 1963 in Poteau, OK. After the nuptials Gerald and Zelma moved to Muskogee where he pursued a career with the City of Muskogee as a diesel mechanic, retiring in 2005. He had a love of the outdoors and shared that passion with his kids and grandkids. His favorite deer hunting season was archery. Summers were filled with golf outings with family and friends, playing anytime he had the opportunity. He also played fast pitch softball for many years leading his team with his pitching. Many Friday nights were spent at the Thunderbird Speedway racing with all his buddies. He truly enjoyed the mission trips with the church. But, the most loved time of all was the time he spent with his family especially his kids, grandkids and great grandkids. Gerald and Zelma are members of the Muskogee First Assembly of God and he had a very strong faith in God. Gerald leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife; Zelma of the home, daughter; Kim Glass-Hughart and husband Steven of Muskogee, daughter; Regina Ferguson and husband Tony of Muskogee, son; Gerald Glass Jr of Muskogee, grandchildren; Aaron Glass, Peyton and Toni K Ferguson, Catie and Kennedy Glass all of Muskogee, great grandchildren; Tyler and Rachael Glass of Muskogee, brother; Charles Glass and wife Mary of Moore, sisters; Peggy Casey of Muskogee and Polly Baxter of Broken Arrow, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, sisters; Carol Limore, Mary Osburn, Janet Gratton-Fisher and a grand-daughter; Lyndsey Glass. A visitation will be held Monday, January 12, 2015 with the family receiving friends from 5PM-7PM at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home in Fort Gibson. Funeral services for Gerald will be held 11:00AM, Tuesday, January 13, 2015 in the Muskogee First Assembly of God with Pastor Steve Rose and Gene Bebee officiating. A private family interment will follow in the Greenhill Cemetery with Gerald Glass Jr., Aaron Glass, Peyton Ferguson, Tony Ferguson, Kyle Tingel and Nathan Avers serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers are Bruce Moore, Kirby Boen, Morris Baxter and Victor Carney.
