James Lee Hansen II

James Lee Hansen II was a Special Forces Army Veteran, who served in Desert Storm and Somalia, who was honored to have served his country. An Avid Hunter, an All-American Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. District 3 Commander of the VFW, Commander of the VFW Post 3085 since from July 2015 to August 2021. He was also on the State Financial Committee for the VFW for 2 years. Jay was State Jr. Vice Commander of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was a member of the American Legion. He was President of the Fleet Reserve Association Auxiliary for six years. He attended Avant elementary school and Barnsdall High School where he was a basketball and football Star. He attended OU. He was a strong supporter of OU. He was an Over the Road Truck driver who was also a nurse, he worked at Bama Foods and was State Service Officer with the VFW for three years. He was a Jack of all trades who did construction. He also loved to watch TV with his woman holding hands. He enjoyed grilling for the VFW and Community. He loved his family and friends very much. James was preceded in death by his parents, James Lee Hansen I and Shirley Edwards; grandmother, Alene (Mimi) Hansen; grandfather, Albert Whinery; granddaughter, Brooke Rain Hansen and a nephew, Shane Davis. Viewing for James will be 9AM-1PM, Sunday, August 29, 2021 at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home in Fort Gibson. A celebration of James’ life is scheduled for 2PM, Sunday, August 29, 2021 and Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home in Fort Gibson with Minister Leon Cato officiating. Full military honors will be observed. Committal prayers and interment will be 11AM, Monday, August 30, 2021 in the Fort Gibson National Cemetery with Robin Hansen, Chance Hansen, Logan Denny, Steve Henrichs, Jeremy Hansen and Jeffrey Hansen serving as casket bearers. Leon Cato, Gerry McCartor, Robert Denny II, Keith Spurlock, Danny Bates and Randy Caldwell will serve as honorary casket bearers.
