Jerry Allan Gladd, Sr.

Jerry Allan Gladd, Sr. was born on December 18, 1932. He passed from this life on September 26, 2022, at 89 years old. Jerry spent his childhood in Tahlequah before enlisting in the Air Force to serve his country in Japan during the Korean War. After his service he married Evelyn McFarland and together they had 3 children. He worked at Brockway Glass for 30 years. He was a talented guitar player and singer and loved to play music and socialize at clubs and functions where he was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Elks Lodge, and the VFW. He also played for many Shriner's events over the years. He was also an avid horseman, breeding and raising top-of-the-line quarter horses as a member of the American Quarter Horse Association. He enjoyed trail riding and spending time at the barn. He is survived by his children, Trish Gladd-Waddell, Jerry Gladd Jr., and Larry Gladd and wife, Dondi; grandchildren, Betty Jo Compton and husband, Jack, Jamie Stillwell and husband, Jesse, Georgia Whitesides and husband, Robert, Justin Krause and husband, Thom, Patrick Carlile and husband, Matt, Gabe Gladd and wife, Chantalle, Blanche Sumner, Angel Terrapin, Jessi Gladd, and Logan Gladd; great grandchildren, Derrick, Gunner, Jackson, Jake, Mariska, Galaxy, Emily, Jace, James, Atlanta, and Pie; great-great granddaughter, KJ; sister, Sarah Baker many nephews and nieces and many friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn; parents, Joseph Benjamin (Tang) Gladd and Fannie Pauline (Lowery) Gladd; brothers, Wirt (Bud), Frank, and Paul Gladd; sisters, Louis Dunlap, Mary Lou Dobson, Jodie Minor, Gladys McNeil, and Patti Cookson; son-in-law, Jim Waddell and daughter-in-law, Ruby Gladd. Visitation with family receiving friends 3PM-5PM Sunday, October 2, 2022, at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home in Fort Gibson, OK. A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held 2PM Monday, October 3, 2022, at the Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home Chapel with Dondi Gladd officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow at Holland Cemetery.
