Jesse James Rigsby Sr

Jesse James Rigsby Sr., 78 year old, Fort Gibson resident, passed away from natural causes on Monday, January 1, 2018 at his home. Jesse was born on Sunday, August 20, 1939 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Homer and Mable Rigsby. Shortly after moving to Miami, Florida to live with his sister Opal and her family, he served in the US Army from July 1963 to July 1965. After serving his Country and returning to live in Miami, Florida he met, fell in love, and later married Maxine Violet Darville, on Saturday, January 22, 1966. The couple moved to New Hampshire, where Jesse worked in construction. In 1971 they relocated to Fort Gibson, Oklahoma to care for his mother after the passing of his father. Jesse started work for the M-K-T Missouri, Kansas, Texas Railroad working on the Steel Bridge Gang in South Texas in 1971 and later retired from the Union Pacific Railroad in 2000. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, coffee with friends at McDonald’s, spending time with his family and never missing an event of his grandchildren. Jesse was an active member of Calvary Faith Pentecostal Holiness Church since the early 80’s. Jesse was proceeded in death by his wife of 44 years; Maxine Violet Rigsby, his father; Homer Harold Rigsby; mother; Mable Ethel Rigsby, three sisters, Opal Darville, Ethel Andrews and Pauline York. Jesse is lovingly survived by two sons, Jesse James Rigsby Jr. and wife Misty of Coweta, Oklahoma, Michael Lawrence Rigsby and wife Carrie of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren, Jessica Ann Lynnae Rigsby, Emilee Nicole Rigsby, Katelyn Elizabeth Rigsby all of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, Jesse James Rigsby III, Ethan Michael Summers and David Joel Rigsby of Coweta, Oklahoma, Aaron Michael Rigsby, Matthew Isaiah Rigsby and Anna Elizabeth Rigsby of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; one sister, Martha Stringer of Sherman Texas, other extended family and a host of friends. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7PM Monday, January 8, 2018 at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home 1224 E. Poplar, Fort Gibson. Funeral services for Jesse James Rigsby Sr. will be 11AM Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Calvary Faith Pentecostal Holiness Church, Fort Gibson, with Reverend Don Reed officiating and Reverend Fred Huffman citing the Eulogy. Committal Prayers and Interment will follow in Fort Gibson National Cemetery under the direction of Cliff Garrett. Jesse Rigsby III, Ethan Summers, Aaron Rigsby, David Rigsby, Matthew Rigsby, Andy Boyd, Robby Walkingstick and Jeramy Rhoden will serve as Casket Bearers. Danny Beaver, Cliff Garrett, Bryan Cantrell, Larry Dale Cooper, Gil McLaughlin, Don Perry and Billy Ford will serve as Honorary Casket Bearers.
