John David Crittenden

John David Crittenden, 49, of Fort Gibson, was born February 23, 1973, in Muskogee, OK to Arthur and Velma (Smith) Crittenden and peacefully passed away Saturday, May 28, 2022, at home with his loving family by his side. He grew up in Fort Gibson where he received his formal education. John was employed with Zapata then OG&E for several years. He recently worked at Graham Packaging as a mechanic in the maintenance department. John was very proud that he served with the Fort Gibson Fire Department as a Firefighter and retired with over 20 years of service. He married his best friend and the love of his life, Stephani on February 18, 1995, in Collinsville, OK. They enjoyed 27 years making precious memories together. John was extremely gifted in woodworking and making beautiful pens. In his leisure time, he enjoyed watching races, playing the drums, cooking and trying new foods. He also enjoyed video games, and he loved children as Jesus loved children. He was always serving others through his church, Timothy Baptist Church in Muskogee, and through Oklahoma Baptist Disaster Relief, where he helped many families after a disaster. His life is one of character, honesty and a deep love for his family and friends. John will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Tom and Wannette Crittenden; maternal grandparents, Willie T. and Gussie Smith; parents-in-law, Stephen and Deborah Todd; and brother-in-law, Justin Todd. Those left to cherish John’s memory are his wife, Stephani of the home; daughter, Salani LaFave and husband, Phillip of Muskogee, OK; parents, Arthur and Velma Crittenden of Fort Gibson, OK; sister, Suzy Boling of Fort Gibson, OK; brother, Tom Crittenden and fiancé, Corie Burditt of Locust Grove, OK; nieces, Carly Boling of Tulsa, OK and Cassidy Boling of Fort Gibson, OK; and nephew, Tyler Crittenden of Yuma, AZ, extended family and many friends. A memorial service celebrating John’s life will be 11AM Friday, June 3, 2022, at Timothy Baptist Church in Muskogee with Pastor Kelly Payne officiating. Jeff Potts, Robert Marrs, Rick Hyslope, Randy Gilbert, Mike Oakley, and Stan Strickland will serve as honorary urn bearers.
