Lavada Ruth (Martin) Jennings was born on January 14, 1937, in Braggs, Oklahoma, Lavada lived a life rich with love, commitment, and family. She made her peaceful transition on Thursday, January 23, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones—a testament to the strength of her bonds and the impact she had on those around her. Lavada’s journey began in the Fort Gibson area, where she attended school. It was in the fields of California that she met her husband, Eugene Jennings—a meeting that blossomed into a beautiful marriage on January 5th, 1954. Together, they built a life first in California and later returned to their roots in Fort Gibson in 1972. Lavada dedicated 20 years to her career at Zapata Industries, where her tenacity and work ethic shone through. But perhaps her greatest achievement was the unconditional love she shared with her family. She leaves behind a legacy that will continue to thrive through her three daughters, Jeanie Beavers and husband Joe, Cindy Allison and husband Larry, and Rhonda Jennings; her two sons, Ronald Jennings and wife Rebecca and Randy Jennings and wife Kim; and her beloved siblings, Janie Brown and husband Gene and Wesley Martin and wife Pam. Lavada's family extends beyond her immediate children, including 16 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren—proof that her love has multiplied through the generations. Though she is preceded in death by her parents, husband Eugene; four sisters, one brother, a grandson Daniel Turner, and great-granddaughter Remy Stills, her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those she cherished. As we reflect on Lavada’s life, we remember her warmth, her laughter, and her unwavering support. She was a pillar of strength and a source of wisdom for many. Her presence will be profoundly missed, but we find comfort in the memories we hold dear. For those who wish to pay their respects, a visitation with the family will take place on Saturday, January 25, 2025, from 5 PM to 7 PM at the Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home in Fort Gibson. In honoring Lavada’s wishes, no formal service is planned at this time; her inurnment will occur at a later date at Citizens Cemetery.
