Lonnie Eugene Orman, Sr., 78, of Muskogee, Oklahoma entered Heaven’s gates on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 in Muskogee. Lonnie was born July 28, 1943 to Hilton and Hazel (Hutchens) Orman. He attended Coweta High School. Lonnie married Melba (Maggard) Orman on October 21, 1966 and was blessed with a son, Lonnie Orman, Jr. Lonnie and Melba celebrated 55 years of life and marriage together. Lonnie’s two main passions were selling cars and raising, training, and racing horses. He loved them both equally. He spent 25 years in the car business and 26 years training race horses for himself and others. His prize race horse, Bad Joe Monday, took him to the winner’s circle time and time again. A horse of which he was very proud of, raising him from a yearling until his death in 2013. He loved his family dearly. He had many great stories throughout his life that he shared with his son and grandsons. His favorite stories he loved to tell, repeatedly, were about his time with his friends in the Army National Guard. Lonnie enjoyed serving the Lord at New Life Assembly of God in Ft. Gibson where his son, Lonnie Jr. and daughter-in-law, Twanna pastor. He was a faithful member of the men’s Sunday school class. In February 2019, Lonnie accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and followed that decision in baptism. Because of that decision, Lonnie now enjoys eternal life in Heaven with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. One of his favorite hobbies was picking up his grandson’s from school and taking them to McDonald’s. Off the dollar menu, he always ordered two McChicken sandwiches, shared one large fry and got two senior drinks, no matter how old they were. He also loved taking them to horse sales and teaching them the importance of working hard. His favorite saying was, “Whatever you do in life, do the right thing.” Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents, Hilton and Hazel Orman and infant brother, Roy Carlton Orman. Lonnie is survived by his wife, Melba Orman of Muskogee; his son, Lonnie Orman, Jr. and wife Twanna of Muskogee; his two grandsons, Cameron Orman and wife Kasy of Kansas, Oklahoma, and Cale Orman of Muskogee; his two brothers, Johnny Orman and wife Charlotte of Braggs, and Jamie Orman and wife Eva of Muskogee; and sister, Hilda Richey of Muskogee; many nieces and nephews along with other family members and friends who will miss him dearly. A visitation will be held Monday, August 30, 2021 at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home in Fort Gibson with family receiving friends 5PM-7PM. Services celebrating Lonnie’s life is scheduled for 12:30PM, Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home Chapel with Lonnie’s son, Lonnie Jr. officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow at 2PM, in the Fort Gibson National Cemetery with Cameron Orman, Cale Orman, Wilburn Davis, Bailey Davis, Mike Garrett and Bill Inhofe serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers are Dean Echols, Brandon Hilton, Darrell Maggard, Ponie McCrary and Jarrod Pendley. Military honors will be observed.
