Michael Wayne 'Mike' Chewey

Michael Wayne ‘Mike’ Chewey, 60, of Fort Gibson, was born December 21, 1963 in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Henry Lester and Billie Dillina (Nail) Chewey with the blessing of his biological mother, Evelyn Chewey-Cherino and peacefully passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2024 in Fort Gibson with his loving family by his bedside. On most beautiful days, you could find Mike either on the golf course or on the bank of the river fishing. He was always up for a good adventure. Mike loved taking trips to New Mexico to visit family and eating at The Big Texan. He and his sister had many long talks together while he was there. Mike was a huge sports fan. He cheered on the Oklahoma Sooners, the Dallas Cowboys, the Chicago Cubs baseball team, and his most favorite team, the Hilldale Hornets, where his grandkids played sports, rarely missing a game. Mike also enjoyed watching Dirt Track racing and NASCAR. He loved air shows. He loved music of all genres and going to concerts. Mike loved to travel to Colorado to hunt and he was a big movie buff. His favorite was Ground Hog Day. He could be found in the Beacon Drive-Inn enjoying a good burger and onion rings. Mike’s greatest passion was spending time with family and his treasured grandkids. Mike will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Billie Chewey; his birth mother, Evelyn Cherino; sister, Lynette Jaramillo; and his long-time friends, Bradley and Terry. Those left to cherish Mike’s memory are his son, Michael E. Chewey of Muskogee, OK; daughter, Rebecca Chewey of Wagoner, OK; bonus daughters, Memory Armstrong and husband Kevin of Fort Gibson, OK, and Jenny Chewey; grandson, Micah Chewey of Muskogee, OK; granddaughter, Mia Chewey of Muskogee, OK; bonus granddaughters, Bella and Cami Armstrong both of Fort Gibson, OK; sister, Mary Creager of Isleta, New Mexico; brother, Jonathan Cherino of Isleta, New Mexico; Mike’s cat, Fat Cat; grand pup, Daphney; numerous cousins; nephews; nieces; grandnephews; grandnieces; and many friends. A viewing for Mike will be 12PM-7PM, Friday, February 16, 2024 at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home in Fort Gibson. A celebration of Mike’s life will be 10AM, Saturday, February 17, 2024 at Crescent Valley Baptist Church in Woodall with Pastor Sam Dunn and Pastor James Pathkiller officiating. Dave Ford, Rex Guinn, Bryan Brock, Christopher Jaramillo, Cody Jaramillo, and Kyle Creager serving as casket bearers.
