Peggy Ann (Roark) Harman

Peggy Ann (Roark) Harman was born on March 20, 1935 in Fireco, West Virginia, to William Edward “Ed” Roark and Bertha Lou “Bertie” (Dolinger) Roark. She passed from this life on September 5, 2020. Peggy was a Christian by faith and raised in the Methodist church. The youngest, and last living, of 12 children, she loved spending time with family and catching up with long-distance loved ones over the telephone. Peggy married the love of her life, Gordon S. “Mike” Harman on February 20, 1958. In the nearly 63 years they were married, Peggy and Mike were blessed with three children, five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Peggy was a proud Air Force wife and selflessly supported her husband and country in this role for over 20 years. In 1974, Peggy earned a cosmetology license and enjoyed a long career helping her many clients look and feel their best. Peggy had a smile and laugh as big as the Blue Ridge Mountains. She had an easy-going personality and made friends everywhere she went. She enjoyed meeting new people in the many states in which she lived and traveled and the beauty shops in which she worked. In addition to her kindness, her generosity was unmatched. Peggy always anticipated the needs of others and whether it be food, money, or clothing, she gave freely and often. She loved a trip to the casino, playing and winning at the slot machines, her favorite. She had a system, but mostly she relied on her intuition. She was known to be “lucky” and gave away the majority of her winnings to others, which is why she believed she had the tendency to win. Even when she didn’t “hit a big one,” she always enjoyed the experience and made sure all of those around her enjoyed their time, as well. Peggy was a collector of beautiful things. She enjoyed hand-blown glass, especially Fenton pieces, Precious Moments, landscape paintings, thimbles, spoons, Native American baskets, porcelain dolls, and antique tables, especially those with marble tops. But more treasured than her collectables, were the memories she made with family and friends. Peggy was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She never missed an opportunity to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. For nearly 40 years, she traveled countless miles to pick them up for the weekend and to make appearances at all of their events, ceremonies, birthdays and weddings, where her jokes and world famous potato salad were always the highlight of the gathering. Peggy was one in a million, a true treasure, and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Peggy is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Gordon, her children, Dennis J. Harman of Hulbert; Anna M. DeMoss (Darryl) of Coweta; Cynthia Mist Marsh-Harman (Tally) of Tulsa; her grandchildren, Lindsay Harman King (OJ) of Edmond; Tyler J. Harman (Tara) of Yukon; Dylan M. Harman of Hulbert; Samuel P. Moran of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Sarah Moran of Coweta; and her great-grandchildren Landry Skye King; Colton Moran; and Ashlynn Baucom.
