Raymond Gene Hammonds

Raymond Gene Hammonds, 84, of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, June 27, 2026. He was born on September 15, 1941, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, to Raymond and Beulah (Woodard) Hammonds. Raymond proudly served his country in the United States Army from July 1960 until July 1963, when he was honorably discharged. Following his military service, he furthered his education by receiving a bachelor’s degree in education. Raymond dedicated himself to teaching as a masonry instructor at the Muskogee Indian Capital Vo-Tech, where he worked until his retirement in 1986. In 1978, Raymond married Beverlee Blakley, who became his steadfast partner and "rock" throughout their marriage of over 48 years. Together they built a life filled with love and many shared memories. Not one to set still, Raymond and his father-in-law started the groundwork on Pecan Valley Golf Course in Fort Gibson, OK. Raymond was a member of the Muskogee Masonic Lodge #28 and found joy in playing golf and watching football games. These pastimes brought him happiness and relaxation throughout his life. Raymond is now reunited with his parents; and his sister, Judy. Those left to cherish Raymond’s memory are his wife, Beverlee of the home; stepdaughter, Kelly Henzel and husband Ron of Keefeton, Oklahoma; grandson, Tanner Drumonds of Arkansas; extended family; and many friends. A celebration of Raymond’s life will be 10AM, Friday, July 3, 2026, at First Freewill Baptist Church in Fort Gibson with Pastor Tommy Honeycutt officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow at Citizens Cemetery with Casey Palmer, Colton Mathis, Ron Henzel, Tanner Drummonds, James Wilson, and Avery Snyder serving as casket bearers.
