Richard Trey Thompson, a beloved son, of Rick and Edna Thompson was born on November 14, 1968, in Muskogee, Oklahoma. On Tuesday, October 8, 2024 he entered his eternal Heavenly Home. His spirit and the memories we cherish will forever remain in our hearts. He was a proud graduate of Checotah High School. Trey dedicated his professional life to Triosim and Georgia Pacific. He brought passion and commitment to his work, reflecting the strong values instilled in him by his parents, Rick and Edna Thompson. Trey's faith was a cornerstone of his life as he was a devoted member of the Community Gospel Center in Fort Gibson. In his leisure time, Trey enjoyed the simple pleasures of life: woodworking that showcased his creativity, fishing that brought him peace, and cheering for his favorite teams—the Oklahoma Sooners and the Dallas Cowboys. He was a true sports enthusiast, always ready to watch a game and share in the excitement with those he loved. Trey made his mark on this world with kindness, laughter, and dedication. We remember Trey not just for the joy he brought to our lives but also for the enduring connections he made. He is now rejoicing in the presence of his cherished grandparents, Eula Combs, Darlene Thompson, and Leon Thompson, all of whom he loved dearly. Trey leaves behind a loving family, including his father, Rick Thompson, and mother, Edna Thompson, both of Fort Gibson; he also leaves his fiancé, Kim Kocsis, and a host of relatives including his aunt Wanda Brandan; cousins, Eddie Grant and wife Sonya of Broken Arrow, OK, Greg Johnson and wife Holly, Darran Johnson, Vicki Dicks and husband Donnie, Larry Leiker and wife Debbie, Cheryl Smith, Doug Smith, and Brian Whorton and wife Kim; Scharla Sheppard and husband; nieces, Cari and Chana Combs; and his faithful canine companion, Penny; and many friends. A visitation will take place on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home in Fort Gibson, where family and friends can come together from 5 PM to 7 PM to share their memories. A celebration of Trey's life will be held on Friday, October 11, 2024, at 2:00 PM at the Community Gospel Center in Fort Gibson, with Pastor John Overton officiating. Committal prayers and interment will be in Starnes Cemetery with Frank Davis, Tanner Alley, Roger Bolinger, Phil Wood, Butch Cook, Austin Yates and David Munsell serving as casket bearers. As we say farewell to Trey, let us carry his spirit with us—one of kindness, faith, and unwavering love. Rest in peace, Trey. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten and always loved.
