Robert Brown, Sr.

Robert Brown, Sr., 82, of Tulsa, was born January 28, 1940, in Vian, OK to Melvin and Josephine (Showers) Brown and peacefully passed away Sunday, November 6, 2022, in Tulsa, with his loving wife by his side. Upon his high school graduation, Robert enlisted in the United States Army on May 3, 1963, in Harrison, AR and was honorably discharged on May 7, 1965. Robert married his best friend, Joyce Anderson and together they shared more than 27 years, making precious memories. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator, running everything from dozers to excavators and driving dump trucks. Robert was instrumental in the construction of the Creek Turnpike and many other roads around Oklahoma. He retired in 2009. In Robert’s spare time, he enjoyed participating in a bowling league, playing golf and watching Little League Baseball World Series. He also played on a softball team for many years. Robert’s all-time favorite hobbies were fishing and singing karaoke. His love for his family was evident in everything he did and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Rebecca Mills; his son, Robert Brown, Jr.; brother, Leroy Brown; sisters, Francis, Maxine and Mildred; and mother-in-law, Maggie. Robert is lovingly survived by his wife, Joyce of the home; daughters, Sheri Snider and husband James Snider, Tera Yeoman and husband Herbert Yeoman, Laura Hale and husband Wayne Hale; step-sons, Brian Anderson and Travis Anderson; sisters, Wylene and Juanita; grandchildren, Thomas Winkler and wife Katie Winkler, Nikki Howell and husband John Howell, Rebecca Moseley and husband Kip Moseley, Cyrena Sandella and husband Nicholas Sandella, Michael Winkler, Emily Qualls, Sarah Snider, Lacey Brown, Matthew Hale, and Joshua Hale; great grandchildren; his special loving dog, Shelby; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Viewing will be held from 9AM-5PM Monday, November 14, 2022, and 9AM-5PM Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home in Fort Gibson. A Celebration of Robert’s Life will be held 2:30PM Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at Fort Gibson National Cemetery Pavilion, with Brother Justin Kinman officiating.
