Ruth Litz Prado

It is with profound sadness yet a celebration of a life beautifully lived that we announce the passing of Ruth Litz Prado, who left us peacefully on January 27, 2024, at the age of 80. Ruth was a truly remarkable woman, a devoted servant of God, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and a friend to all she met. Born on October 26, 1943, in Bluefield, West Virginia, to Walter and Etta Carl, she was the oldest sister of seven siblings that she loved fiercely. In 1967, she met the love of her life, her husband Joe, whom she cherished dearly until he lost his battle with Myelofibrosis on April 11, 1997. Ruth was the proud and loving mother of five children, who in turn blessed her with 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and one cherished great-great-grandchild. She was a woman who never met a stranger. Each encounter was an opportunity for her to share the love of Jesus, always asking if they knew Him as their Lord and Savior. Her passion for evangelism was matched only by her commitment to prayer. She was a true prayer warrior, interceding fervently for her family, friends, and even those she had just met. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, hope, and love. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, and the countless lives she touched. We take comfort in knowing that she is now in the arms of her Savior, praying for us in the presence of the Lord she so dearly loved. Ruth is survived by her children Rhonda (Mark) Hayes, Tammy (P.J.) Mercer, Joe (Mildred) Prado, Jeannie (Tim) Freeman, and John Prado; siblings Frank (Debbie) Carl, Charles (Cindy) Carl; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents Walter & Etta Carl; husband Joe Prado; sister Betty Jane Hartwell; brothers Samuel (Sammy) Carl, David Carl, Gratton (Gratty) Carl, Mason Carl, and granddaughter Michaelia Lallathin. Ruth’s celebration of life will be 1PM, Monday, February 5, 2024 at Fort Gibson Church of Christ. Lance Hartfelder, James Hartfelder, Brian McKeever, Michael Fontenot, Antwan Sands, Matt Raynor, and Tommy Kirk will serve as casket bearers. Committal prayers and interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery in Muskogee.
