S. Malinda Rolland

Sharon Malinda (Johnson) Rolland, 60, of Gore, OK was born August 28, 1962 in Sallisaw, OK to Younger and Jeanie (McNutt) Johnson and entered Heaven’s Gates on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at her home with her loving family by her side. Malinda grew up in Vian where she attended school, graduating with the class of 1980. She furthered her education at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah. She married her best friend Sammy Rolland on October 30, 1981 in Fort Gibson where they made their home, later moving to Gore. Malinda had the greatest job in the world as a homemaker. She really enjoyed to sing, and had a beautiful voice, crochet, taking motorcycle rides with Sammy on her own Honda. She was a very active member of New Hope Baptist Church where she cooked for many Vacation Bible Schools and traveled to Falls Creek on many occasions to cook. Spending time with family and friends was her passion. Malinda’s family was her everything. She is loved by many and will be missed by all that knew her. She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother, David Johnson; sisters, Ann White and Pam Baldwin; her sister-in-law, Donna Johnson; brother-in-laws, Spencer Perry and Fred Baldwin; a nephew, Christopher Rolland; and a great-nephew, Zachary Fry. Malinda is survived by her husband, Sammy of the home; daughters, Tabatha Rolland and Joella Rolland both of Fort Gibson; son, Nathan Rolland of Fort Gibson; her only grandson, Benjamin Hughes of Fort Gibson; sisters, Debbie Rolland of Vian, Paula Smith of Webbers Falls, and Betty Jo Perry of Gore; a brother, Terry Johnson of Fort Gibson; a sister-in-law, Frances Johnson of Vian; brother-in-law, L.A. White of Vian; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. A celebration of Malinda’s life will be held 1 PM Saturday, July 1, 2023 at New Hope Baptist Church Muskogee with Pastor Don Blankenship officiating.
