Sharon Kay Short

Sharon (Kay-Kay) Short, 53, of Fort Gibson, peacefully passed away August 29, 2015 in Tulsa, Oklahoma with her family by her side. She was born September 19, 1961 in Muskogee, Oklahoma, to Roy and Imogene Robins. Sharon graduated from Muskogee High School with the class of 1980. She married Roger Short on July 13, 1991 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Sharon loved to laugh and to make others laugh. She was actively involved in her church at First Baptist often helping during vacation bible school, cooking and baking for church members and would have cookouts at her home for the Bacone Ministry. She loved reading her Bible and studied scriptures daily. Her favorite Bible verse was Ephesians 2:8. She loved Hummingbirds and enjoyed watching them through the glass in the front door while they were feeding from her feeder. She loved to help anyone in need and would have gladly given the shirt off her back to anyone. She always put everyone else's needs before her own often going without in the process. Even in her final days at the hospital she made sure everyone was comfortable and had a seat to sit in. Sharon's father always used to say that he had four beautiful daughters and one ugly daughter. To this day we do not know the answer as he took this with him to his grave, although each of the five sisters believe they know who the ugly one is. Sharon is survived by her husband, Roger D. Short of Fort Gibson; three children, Tiffany Arnold of Fort Gibson, David Walton (married to Amie) of Porum, Jesse Short (married to Tiffany) of Owasso, and a step-son, Chris Short (married to Robin) of Broken Arrow; 11 grandchildren, Kyle, Xander, Gavin, Maison, Kenny, Alicia, Ashley, Lexi, Camryn, Tristen, and Makayla; her mother Imogene Robins of Okay, Oklahoma; four sisters; Glenda, Mary and Richard, Janet and Michael of Muskogee, Oklahoma and Cheryl and Jerry of Okay, Oklahoma; numerous nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews and many friends. Sharon is preceded in death by her father, Roy (Red) Lee Robins, a nephew, Ronald Dean, and a great niece, Mary Maree. A memorial service celebrating Sharon’s life will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at 10:00 AM in the First Baptist Church of Fort Gibson with Pastor Danny Gandara officiating.
