Teresa Sue Parnell

Teresa Sue Parnell, 78, of Muskogee was born September 8, 1945 in Muskogee to Earnest and Frances (Boyd) Sandwell and peacefully passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at her home with her loving family by her bedside. She was a lifelong resident of Muskogee, receiving her education at Muskogee Public Schools. She then received her master’s degree in education where she was an Elementary School Teacher for the Muskogee Public Schools for 38 years, retiring in 2010. Teresa was a member of Eastside Church of Christ and was past Treasurer for the Muskogee Education Foundation. Teresa's greatest enjoyments were teaching children to read, keeping score at her grandkids sporting events, watching her grandkids play sports, watching Thunder Basketball, OU Sports, and hanging out with her family. She will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earnest and Frances Sandwell; sisters, Delores Davis, Peggy Eversole and her husband, Max, and Bitty Yager; mother-in-law, Mary Parnell and father-in-law, Jake Parnell. Teresa is lovingly survived by her son, James Parnell and wife, Melissa of Fort Gibson; daughter, Francie Rowland and husband, Pat of Muskogee; grandsons, Cale Parnell and wife, Paige of Broken Arrow, Cy Rowland and wife, Jayden of Checotah; granddaughters, Kirby Parnell of Honolulu, Shaylee Rowland and Gabe Gilbert of Muskogee; great-granddaughter, Olivia Parnell of Broken Arrow; great grandson, Rucks Rowland of Checotah; lifelong friends, Dr Gill and Nancy Graham and Jimmy Dale and Vickie Tracy of Muskogee; extended family and many friends. A celebration of Teresa’s life will be 10AM Monday, March 18, 2024 at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home Chapel in Muskogee with Chaplain Lisa Sowers officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery, with James Parnell, Pat Rowland, Cale Parnell, Gabe Gilbert, Cy Rowland and Todd Rolland serving as casket bearers. Jimmy Dale Tracy and Gill Graham will serve as honorary casket bearers.
