Tex William Jewell, Jr.

Tex William Jewell, Jr. 76, of McAlester, OK was born January 30, 1949 in El Paso, TX to Tex and Ivy (Stipe) Jewell and peacefully passed on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at his home with his family by his bedside. Tex received his education in Colorado Springs, CO living there for 40 years before moving to McAlester, OK. He joined the United States Army on December 28, 1967 in McAlester serving in Vietnam, and received an honorable discharge on December 27, 1973. Tex received many commendations, receiving National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with four Bronze Service Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Army Commendation Medal, Air Medal and Bronze Star while serving our great nation in Vietnam. He started his career as an electrician and soon became the Electrician Maintenance Supervisor at Peterson Air Force Base where he retired in 2010 after 27 years of service. Tex was an outdoorsman as he enjoyed playing golf, hunting and fishing. He was also an exceptional tinkerer. His passion for life was evident in everything he did. Tex will be remembered and missed by many. He is reunited with his parents, Tex, Sr., and Ivy Jewell; his first wife, Ruby Jewell; and a brother, Jimmy Jewell. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Judith Beck-Jewell of the home; daughter, Robin Butcher and husband, Ty of Texas; grandchildren, Danielle and Damien Butcher; sister, Gloria Ingham of Texas; brother, Edward Jewell of McAlester; step daughters, Teri Anderson and husband David of Forida, Jackie Warren of Texas, Holly Poledicha and husband, Adoni of Texas; stepson, Tony McCarty of California; step grandchildren, Traci, Dominic, Chris, Chad, Nathan, Lisa, and Shanell; 17 step great grandchildren; 3 step great great grandchildren; his family with Judith, step children, Jerry, Kim, Angela and Amy; seven step grandchildren, Tyler, Karly, Kelsey, Jace, Christian, Ashley and Austin; five step great grandchildren, Eleanor, Charlie, Eli, August and Weston; numerous extended family and many friends. A visitation will be Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home in Fort Gibson with family receiving friends 11AM- 12:45PM. Tex’s celebration of life will be 1PM following his visitation with Jason Jewell officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow at 2:30PM in the Fort Gibson National Cemetery.
