Tony Clinton Ferguson

There simply aren't adequate words in our language that will do Tony justice, but this will be our best attempt to let the world get a glimpse into the man he "was." Hmmm...."WAS." That three letter word cuts deeper than you can imagine. With that word, the pain radiates through us. But there is comfort in the two-letter word, "IS." Tony "is" at peace. Tony "is" whole again. Tony is racing on streets of gold! Isn't that right, Kevin? You see, Tony was everything to everyone who knew him. His mother Carol spoke often of how intelligent he was...and what a good Samaritan he was. Of course, he would do anything for those he loved. But it's what he would do for those he didn't that made the man. Carol says he was the best son in the world. She says he was an angel on earth. She was right! Tony was also an amazing father. He loved his children more than life itself. He wanted to give them the world, but also instilled in them a grinding work ethic. Peyton remembers his Dad telling him often that you can do anything you set your mind to, and if you want something done right then do it yourself. Maybe Tony's most memorable quote is, "where there is a will, there is a way!" But most of all, the kids want it to be known that he was a laid back, understanding guy who never passed judgement on anyone. He was just a cool guy with a big heart! With this, no doubt his kids will take all his advice to heart. Tony worked so hard to provide a comfortable life for them, and he succeeded. Tony was so proud of them. Sooo proud!!!! They lost their father way to soon but have no doubt they will continue to carry his torch for him. Tony's sister learned what a man should be from Tony, and their Dad Charlie. She was thankful for the time that he had "post diagnosis." It allowed them to express their regret to one another for not making more time to spend together. To tell one another just how much they loved each other. She also took that opportunity to get parenting advice from Tony. She'll tell you, "if Tony gives you advice, you take it, because it's right!" She trusted him. Tony's "Daddy," as Tony lovingly called him, wants the world to know just how genuine and good Tony was. Like Tony's Mom, his Daddy spoke often of how eager Tony was to help those he loved and cared about. Even strangers. Tony and his Daddy were very similar in many ways. He certainly was his father's son! Not only did they enjoy their time working in the machine shop together, but they have enjoyed many, many hobbies together throughout Tony's life. It enriched both of their lives, greatly. I have saved the best for last. Gina!!! I could literally stop right there and say nothing more, and just her name makes everyone want to smile and weep at the same time, because everyone in this room knows that Tony and Gina shared the same heart. They really were the best love story this town has EVER seen! He loved and adored her, and would have given his life for her, and she felt the same about him. Gina was handpicked by God for Tony. Gina has said that "it just so happens their paths crossed and they just happened to be going the same direction." I would argue it was never left to chance. It really was a match made in heaven! They were each other's best friend! They loved being together. Together was their favorite place to be. Gina took such wonderful care of Tony before his diagnosis and kicked it into overdrive post diagnosis. She was his angel on Earth. She met his every single need and made him as comfortable as she possibly could. She made him happy. I swear they could just look at each other and know what the other was feeling. They were connected in a way that most of us can't even comprehend. Which makes perfect sense, because as I mentioned earlier, they share one heart. Tony's heart did not die March 5th, 2018. It still beats within Gina. She will carry his heart for the rest of her life. She was his everything, and he was hers, as he will continue to be. In addition, Tony had an abundance of friends. So many that it would take all weekend to tell their stories of Tony. Rob, Kevin, Bobby Jr., Gordon and Matt, and so many more brought so many good times to Tony. He truly loved them all and valued their friendships. They were family to him. We all have been blessed beyond measure to have had Tony while we did, albeit not long enough. Tony will watch over us, though. He will wait to see us again. In the meantime, he will continue to race on streets of gold. Tony was the proud owner of Ferguson Machine Shop in Muskogee and a member of Azalea Church of Christ. Tony was preceded in death by his grandmas, Ruth Sims and Kris Ferguson; grandpa, Elmer Ferguson and father in law, Gerald Glass Sr. He is lovingly survived by his wife, Regina; son, Peyton Ferguson; daughter, Toni Kay Ferguson; mom, Carol Reed, father, Charlie Ferguson and stepmom Gail; sister, Winsdy Diebold and husband Jeff; brother, Randy Ferguson; grandson, Oliver Ferguson; daughter, Amber Williams, grandson, Colton Williams; granddaughter, Adlee Williams; uncle, Don Sims, many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and many friends. A service celebrating Tony’s life will be 1:00PM Friday, March 9, 2018 at the Chandler Road Church of Christ with Elder Jim Morris and John Lathrop officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow in the Greenhill Cemetery in Muskogee, OK with Kevin Flock, Robert Atchley, Bobby Alberty Jr., Gordon Laster, Matt Thompson and Peyton Ferguson serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers are Bob Alberty Sr., Don Sims and Darren Reed.
