William Boyd Johnson

William Boyd Johnson, 80, of Muskogee, OK was born October 31, 1943, to Everett and Nola (Hammonds) Johnson and peacefully passed away January 22, 2024, in Fort Gibson with his family by his bedside. William grew up in Braggs, OK where he played and excelled at the sport of baseball. This would be where he earned his name, “Bird Legs”. William eventually moved to Muskogee where he learned the trade of auto body and ran his own business for many years. He often loved to watch and coach his daughters when they played softball. But his greatest pleasure was always spending time with his family and most treasured grandchildren. Those grandchildren could absolutely do no wrong in his eyes. William will be missed by all, especially his grandbabies. William was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Clarence Johnson, Elbert Johnson, Jr., Tom Johnson, J.D. Johnson, and infant Clifford Johnson; sisters, Pauline Johnson Goble, and Leveta Johnson McConnell. William is lovingly survived by his daughters, Stacy Johnson and Valentina Gutierrez of Oklahoma City, OK, and Carmen Garrett and husband Cliff of Fort Gibson, OK; sisters, Carolyn Stricker of Gore, OK, and Owetta Goad of Muskogee, OK; brother, Roy Lee Johnson and wife Carol of Mesa, AZ; grandchildren, Camryn Garrett of Muskogee, OK, Carson Garrett of Fort Gibson, OK, Cooper and Emersen Anderson of Oklahoma City, OK; extended family, and many friends. A heartfelt thank you to his sister, Carolyn, for her unwavering love and care that she gave William in his last years. William Boyd’s visitation will be Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home in Fort Gibson with his family receiving friends 5PM-7PM. A celebration of William Boyd’s life will be 11AM, Friday, January 26, 2024, at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Gibson with Brother Roger Cordray officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow at South Bethel Cemetery in Braggs. Camryn Garrett, Carson Garrett, Cliff Garrett, Gary Cunningham, Shawn (Jack) Robbins, and Stacy Johnson will serve as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearer will be Dan Carter.
