Alan Francis Fillmore

Alan Francis Fillmore, 76, of Muskogee, OK was born May 22, 1945 in Portsmouth, VA to Edmond and Juanita (Edwards) Fillmore and peacefully passed away Sunday, July 25, 2021 in Muskogee. Alan moved to Anderson, California from Portsmouth at a very young age with his family, while his father was in the service. He received his formal education from Anderson High School. Alan attended college at Shasta College in Redding, California. He enlisted in the United States Army in Redding, CA on May 26, 1965 and received an Honorable Discharge three years later. He started his career over the road hauling with an 18-wheeler semi-truck until his retirement. Alan was a family man. He enjoyed keeping up with friends and family, talking on the phone for hours. Alan was heavily involved in his children’s school activities and he always volunteered to help any time he got the chance. He liked to catch the occasional wrestling match on TV if he couldn’t find an old western to watch. Alan also loved trains. He collected them, visited many train museums, and liked to take rides on them. Since he was a young teen, Alan enjoyed restoring old cars. He also liked going to car shows. Later in life, Alan found a love for woodworking, making jewelry boxes and clocks. Alan is survived by his wife, Barbara Aline Fillmore; 11 children; Georgia Ward and husband Lonnie Blackledge, Eddie Fillmore-Rusinko, Buck Ward, Mary Osborn and husband Mark, Frances Boyd and husband Robert, Judy Bukowski and husband Beau, Angel Fillmore, Tiara Fillmore, Tiana Fillmore, Elaine “Bubbles” Fillmore, and Brian Fillmore; 24 grandchildren, J.J., Meilinda, Juanita, Kimberly, C.C., Yavonne, David, Alan, James, Francis, Jacob, Bucky, Alicia, Jeremy, Ashley, Samantha, Jonathan, Tieler, Whittney, Amanda, Alexis, Scott, Zack and Ethan; and 30 great-grandchildren; brother, Jim Fillmore; sisters, Deb Fillmore, Lisa Downing and husband Brian: aunt, Grace Fillmore; cousin, Sandie Fortes and husband Fred; extended family and many friends. Alan was preceded in death by his parents; son, David Fillmore-Ward, grandsons, Damian Bukowski and Jason Murphy; great-grandson, Leeland Hurst; sister, Denise Fillmore; and brother, Edmond “Dub” Fillmore. A service Celebrating Alan’s life will be 2:00PM Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at Fort Gibson National Cemetery with Bishop Chris Emler officiating. Military honors will be observed. Casket bearers are Mark Osborn, Beau Bukowski, Robert Boyd, Jonathan Jackson, Scott Bukowski and Zack Bukowski, Tieler Osborn and Raymond Hurst.
