Darrell Gordon Smith, 86, of Fort Gibson was born March 24, 1936, in Sisseton, SD to Ferdia and Anna (Pavek) Smith, and quietly passed away Saturday, May 28, 2022, at his home with his son, Mark by his side. Darrell received his formal education, then moved to Montana to work on the farm. He enlisted in the United States Army and received an honorable discharge on February 28, 1965, with a rank of E-4. Darrell was a gifted carpenter and a faithful member of the Norwood Lakeview Baptist Church. Darrell is preceded in death by his wife Lois and a stepson, Bruce Leppla. He is lovingly survived by his sons, Mark Smith of Fort Gibson and Russell Smith of Germany; his daughter, JoAnne Boken of Rapid City, SD; and a daughter-in-law, Kristine Leppla of Florida. In lieu of flowers, Darrell’s family request memorial contributions to Norwood Lakeview Baptist Church 20980 OK-80 Hulbert, OK 74441. A memorial service will be held 10AM Monday, June 6, 2022 at Fort Gibson National Cemetery Pavilion with Pastor John Martin officiating. Military honors will observed.
