Kenneth Dean Longhofer, 82, was born November 5, 1932 in Lebo, Kansas to Ira Dean and Fern (Hodges) Longhofer and passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 14, 2015 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Kenneth graduated from Lebo, Kansas public schools. He joined the United States Air Force on February 14, 1952 and received an honorable discharge on February 13, 1956. Ken married Twyla Gunter on October 9, 1953. He furthered his education at Sacramento State College and Emporia State Teachers College earning his degree and became a teacher for Eskridge Public Schools. After his teaching career, Kenneth became an insurance agent for Farm Bureau in Kansas and then transferred to Oklahoma in 1981. Kenneth earned top salesman for Farm Bureau and earned many trips. He retired in 2000 from his office in Wagoner, OK. Kenneth loved the outdoors. Hunting and fishing were two of his favorite things to do with family and friends. He also enjoyed golf. Kenneth attended First Baptist Church in Fort Gibson. He enjoyed spending time with his Sunday school class. Many hours were spent with his friends at the Senior Center talking and playing games. Ken was an example of love and commitment to his family and friends. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, his wife; Twyla Longhofer, and his sister; Twila Jean Clark. Kenneth leaves behind to cherish his memory, his son; Rodney Longhofer of Dallas,TX, his daughters; Teri Sigler of Garber, OK, and Toni Armstrong and her husband Clayton of Fort Gibson, OK, grandchildren; Christopher Longhofer, Eric Longhofer, Brian Longhofer, Kevin Longhofer, Scott Longhofer, Karlie Longhofer, Shaun Campbell, Amanda Napier, Melissa Laurenceau, Sydni Manley, Jarrod Armstrong, and Kevin Armstrong, brother; Wayne Longhofer and his wife Sheila, sister in law; Patricia Gunter, brother in laws; Scott Gunter and his wife Sally, Bob Hartman, Bill Clark, and 13 great grandchildren. A visitation will be held Thursday, July 16, 2015 with the family receiving friends from 5PM-7PM at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home in Fort Gibson. Services will be held at 11:00AM, Friday, July 17, 2015 at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Gibson with Pastor Don Landers officiating. Interment will be held at 11:00AM, Saturday, July 18, 2015 in Waverly, KS at Waverly Cemetery, with Pastor Jay Hale officiating. Serving as casket bearers are Eric Longhofer, Brian Longhofer, Kevin Longhofer, Scott Longhofer, Shaun Campbell, and Christophe Laurenceau.
