Marvin Ward Rockman, Jr., 85, of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, only son of Marvin, Sr. and Lillian (Yarlott) Rockman was born in Crow Agency, Montana on June 11, 1936. They adored their only son and set very high expectations for him. Their family lived in Montana for a short while, and Muskogee, before returning to Heavener, Oklahoma where he spent his childhood years. They then moved to Poteau, Oklahoma for him to attend high school. Marvin excelled in everything he did, he was very versatile as a young person. They married after high school, and had three children: Roxanne, Rozlyn and Marvin. Marvin Rockman was in the first group inducted into the Poteau Hall of Fame for three sports - football, basketball and baseball in high school in 1953-1955. He starred in all three equally well. He was all-conference in football, and all-state honorable mention in all three sports. His senior year in basketball, he scored 51 points in a single game. Rockman went on to play professional baseball for several years, before joining OG&E in 1963 until his retirement in 1994. After retirement, he spent all his time with Barbara traveling, camping and fishing at Lake Tenkiller. They had nine grandchildren and at this date have nine great grandchildren.
