Willie Taylor

March 11, 1940 - June 19, 2022

Willie Taylor, 82, a Fort Gibson resident for 80 years, was born in Sallisaw, OK on March 11, 1940, to Monroe and Gladys (Upton) Taylor and peacefully passed away at his home on Sunday, June 19, 2022, in Fort Gibson. Willie finished his education in eighth grade at Georgetown and headed to the cotton field to help his parents and 16 brothers and sisters on the family farm. Willie met, fell in love with and later married the love of his life, Elizabeth Farrow, on July 31, 1959. For 53 years, Willie made sure there were fresh wildflowers from the yard on the table for his Love at all times. Willie’s work ethic from his early farm life never went away as he was always busy doing something. He was a bit of a carpenter and furniture maker. Willie would make wicker furniture and carve wood. Come Christmas, he would dress up as a hillbilly Santa Claus dawning red long johns, a painted face and his bindle over his shoulder all in the name of fun. Willie hauled hay for 30 years but would slow down for his family. He enjoyed taking the family camping and on vacations. They would frequent Silver Dollar City, in Branson, and Dogpatch, USA. Willie would take the family camping where he would fish, hunt and enjoy the great outdoors. Willie wanted to spend the time away from work with his family. He always wanted to get together and eat for the cherished camaraderie. Sure, as shooting, with a bang in every bottle, Willie loved Mountain Dew. Willie was a wonderful son, brother, husband and father. He was loved greatly and will be missed by all that knew him. Willie was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 53 years, Elizabeth Taylor; sons, Danny Taylor and Randy Taylor; granddaughter, Elizabeth May (Beth); and several brothers and sisters. Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Jimmy Taylor and wife, Kimberly of Fort Gibson; Brett Taylor of Broken Arrow, OK; daughters, Angela Taylor of Tulsa, OK and Crystal Taylor of Miami, OK; granddaughters, Magin Taylor of Tennessee, Sarah Winkle of Muskogee, Erin Taylor and wife, Chloe of Fort Gibson, Melanie May of Tulsa, Emily Arnall and husband, Dakota of Pocola, OK and Cami Taylor of Fort Gibson; grandsons, Hunter Taylor of Broken Arrow and Braxton Ruminier-Taylor; great-granddaughters, Stella Taylor of Fort Gibson and Kloey Richardson of Oakridge, TN; brothers, Jimme “Turkey” Taylor of Broken Arrow and James Taylor of Fort Gibson; extended family and many friends. A Celebration of Life for Willie Taylor will be held 10AM Thursday, June 23, 2022, at New Life Center in Muskogee with Pastor Danny Harrison officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow at Citizens Cemetery in Fort Gibson with Hunter Taylor, Dale Martin, Billy Ford, Frankie Campbell, Dakota Arnall and Donnie Harris serving as casket bearers. The family of Willie Taylor has entrusted his care, service and burial to Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home, Fort Gibson. 918-478-2555.
