Betty Shirley Riley-Martin

Betty (Ogle) Riley-Martin, 88, formerly of Fort Gibson, OK was born November 7, 1935, in Claremore, OK to Orville and Lydia (Stout) Ogle and entered eternal rest in Heaven on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, in Muskogee. Ms. Betty attended Broken Arrow Schools and furthered her education at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, completing her bachelor's degree and master’s degree in education/librarian. She served as Regional Library Director for the Oklahoma Department of Education for 20 years, retiring in 2008. Betty’s life centered around her family and friends. Many games of dominos and canasta were played around her kitchen table. She was a faithful member of the Fort Gibson Church of Christ. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Lydia Ogle; her husband, Gene Riley; and her second husband, Jim Martin. Those left to cherish her memories are her children, Mike Riley and wife Lisa of Oklahoma City, OK, Michelle Moore and husband Larry of Fort Gibson, OK, Bobby Martinhauk of Tahlequah, OK, Patty Parker and husband Tim of Tahlequah, OK, Tommy Martin and wife Jeana of Fort Gibson, OK, Cheryl Pyle and husband Vince of Texas, and Mike Beeson and wife Mindy of California; grandchildren, Matthew Riley and Emily Hoang of Los Angeles, CA, Meghan Perry and husband Jeff of Oklahoma City, OK, Joshua Moore and wife Sarah of Fort Gibson, OK, Sarah Thomas and husband Jon of Fort Gibson, OK, Brian and Kacy Martinhauk of California, Paige Parker of Tahlequah, OK, Jake Parker and wife Morgan of Fort Gibson, OK, Colin Martin and Emma Martin both of Fort Gibson, OK, Chris and Craig Hanna of Texas; great-grandchildren, Jane Perry, Riley Perry, Avery Moore, Hudson Moore, Riley Thomas, Ruthie Thomas, Ruby Thomas, Aleigha Mitchell, Bo Jack Parker and Sam Parker; extended family and many friends. A visitation is scheduled for Sunday, August 25, 2024, at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home in Fort Gibson with the family receiving friends 2PM-4PM. A celebration of Betty’s life will be held 1PM Monday, August 26, 2024, at Fort Gibson Church of Christ with Terry Hackworth, Jerry David Walker, Dan Rouse and Kenny Lashley leading her going home service. Committal prayers and interment will follow in the Fort Gibson National Cemetery with Joshua Moore, Matthew Riley, Jake Parker, Jon Thomas, Colin Martin and Jeff Perry serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers are Budo Perry, Jim Hill, Gerald Walkingstick and Lyle Tolbert.
