Dick Lee 'Dickie' Huitt

Dickie Lee Huitt, 69, of Muskogee, OK was born September 6, 1955 in Muskogee, OK to Wilburn Richard ‘Dick’ and Elizabeth Marie (Phipps) Huitt and peacefully passed away in Muskogee, OK on Friday, October 11, 2024. Dickie attended Muskogee Schools and continued his education at Northeastern State University receiving a Bachelor’s degree. He started his career in law enforcement immediately following college and retired as an Investigator for the Muskogee County District Attorney’s office. He grew up in Muskogee where he had many animals and had a special love for horses. He was a member of the Muskogee Round Up Club for many years. He loved history and originally wanted to be a history teacher before starting his career in Law Enforcement. Dickie enjoyed the outdoors especially fishing and was an avid Cardinals Baseball and OU Football fan. He had a beautiful voice and loved singing gospel music with his quartet and singing karaoke. He was quite the prankster and enjoyed making jokes to get a laugh. Dickie lived life to the fullest and was very good at everything he did. His laughter was contagious, and his love for his family was unconditional. He will be missed. Dickie was preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Marie Huitt; half-brother, Jerry Richard Huitt, Sr; a half-sister, Alice Huitt Preston and an infant brother, Baby Joe Huitt. Those left to cherish all of Dickie's great memories are his brother, Mike Huitt and wife, Glinda of Fort Gibson, OK; his niece, Alissa Huitt Backes of Fort Gibson, OK; a great niece, Olivia Backes of Fort Gibson, OK; his son, Josh Huitt and wife Sheila of Tulsa, OK; mother of his son, Pattie Morse Huitt of Eufaula, OK; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and many friends. A visitation with family receiving friends will be 5PM-7PM, Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Muskogee. A celebration of Dickie’s life will be 11AM, Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at Citizen’s Cemetery Pavilion in Fort Gibson with Reverend Roger Pratt officiating.
