Freda Mae Reynolds

Freda Mae Reynolds was born March 11, 1940 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma to Arthur and Evelyn (Tullock) Cole and peacefully passed away Friday, November 29, 2024 in Muskogee, OK with her family by her bedside. Her childhood was spent in Barnsdall, where she graduated in 1958. She furthered her education by attending Bacone College and Northeastern State University. She began teaching throughout several schools in Northeastern Oklahoma. She retired from Fort Gibson Schools in 1992, and then began teaching GED classes, making a total of 40 years in education. Freda always said, “Teaching was never a job, always a joy.” She was an avid reader and shared books with many friends and relatives. She loved to end a conversation with you by telling you a funny joke. Freda leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love and devotion. She will be dearly missed. Freda was preceded in death by her first husband, Harold Wade Jr.; her parents; and three brothers, Jerry Cole, Lloyd Cole, and Charles Cole. Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband, Dewayne Reynolds; her children and their spouses, Barbara and Ed Patterson, Travis and Nellie Wade, Tonya Gann, and David and Jessica Wade; five grandchildren, Elizabeth and Trevor Walker, Darien Key and Amy, Samantha Wade, Kelsey Gann and Raven and Kelly Kirk; one remaining sibling, her sister, Debbie Thomas of Barnsdall; also, three sisters in law; 11 great grandchildren; step children; and several nieces and nephews. A big thank you for all the many prayers and cards during her illness. Her husband Dewayne said many times that prayer was her best medicine. In lieu of flowers Freda’s family requests memorial contributions be made in her name to the American Cancer Society at https://donate.cancer.org A visitation will be 5PM-7PM, Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home in Fort Gibson. A celebration of Freda’s life will be 10AM, Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at Fort Gibson Church of Christ with Brother Terry Hackworth and Brother Calvin Cole officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow at Citizens Cemetery in Fort Gibson with Kendal Reynolds, Randall Reynolds, Gary Reynolds, Bobby Thomas, Jason Cole, and Jacob Cole serving as casket bearers. Trevor Walker and Darien Key will serve as honorary casket bearers.
