James "Rick" Richard Kidd

James Richard Kidd, “Rick”, was born May 5, 1948, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to James Kidd, Jr. and Betty Jo (Walsh) Kidd and peacefully passed away January 5, 2023 at the age of 74 in Tulsa, with his loving family by his side. Rick attended Okmulgee Tech OSU specializing in Autobody Mechanics. He enlisted in the United States Navy in May of 1969. He faithfully served during the Vietnam War. Rick worked as a CNC Machinist for Continental Industries in Tulsa. He was an avid football fan. Rick spent many nights and weekends watching the OU Sooners and the Dallas Cowboys, cheering them on to victory. He was a lover of all things cars from watching NASCAR to getting behind the wheel of his ’66 GTO and heading down to the drag strip for a race. Later in life Rick became a huge movie fan, watching Lion King and Avatar repeatedly. Like seriously, a never-ending loop for weeks. That is, until he discovered Netflix which opened him up to a whole new world. His last few years were spent in front of an 85” tv, surrounded by his kids and grandchildren with an unlimited supply of nutty buddies and Dr. Pepper. He was the best father and Papa and will be missed by all that knew him. Rick is preceded in death by his parents, James and Betty Jo Kidd. Rick is lovingly survived by his son, Jason Kidd and daughter-in-law Mendy of Broken Arrow, OK; daughter, Jessica Kidd of Tulsa, OK; brother, Gary Kidd of Tulsa, OK; sisters, Pam Price of Tahlequah, OK and Kathy Sims of Sand Springs, OK; his previous wife, Sandy Kidd of Tulsa, OK; niece, Kristin Eeg of Bixby, OK; nephew, Billy Kidd of Tulsa, OK; niece, Erin Coffee of Tahlequah, OK; nephew, Keith Sims of Sand Springs, OK; extended family, and many friends. A visitation with family to greet friends 5PM-7PM Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home, Fort Gibson. A celebration of James’ life will be 11AM Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home Chapel, Fort Gibson with Brother Justin Kinman officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow at Fort Gibson National Cemetery with military honors being observed.
