Kelly Dennis Butler, 57, of Oklahoma, was born January 11, 1967 in Port Sulphur, LA to Norman and Frances Butler and entered eternal rest on Sunday, March 17, 2024. Kelly enlisted in the United States Navy in October of 1990 and served in both the United States Navy and the United States Army during the Gulf War, receiving his honorable discharge in May of 2001 at the rank of Damage Controlman 3rd Class. Kelly met his wife Jennifer in 1998 at Fort Hood, Tx and they were married in Tahlequah, OK on August 20, 2002. Kelly was a proud veteran that loved his country; he was a symbol of courage, resilience, and unwavering commitment. He stood tall in the face of adversity, facing the challenges of war with bravery and honor. He exemplified the values of duty and sacrifice, and his service will forever be etched in the annals of our nation’s history. Kelly’s service did not end on the battlefield. He continued to serve his fellow veterans and his community long after his military service ended. He understood the struggles and challenges faced by those who had served, and he dedicated himself to providing support, camaraderie, and a helping hand to his brothers and sisters in arms. Kelly was not just a father; he was a pillar of strength, a source of guidance, and a constant source of love and support. He embodied the essence of fatherhood, and his impact on his children and family is immeasurable. More than just “Pa,” he was a role model, a mentor, and a friend, always there to lend a helping hand or offer words of wisdom. Kelly spent quality time with his Lord and savior Jesus Christ in worship through poetry and art. He enjoyed forging his own knives, carpentry, and catching a baseball game. Kelly was a faithful member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Tahlequah. Those left to cherish Kelly’s memories are his wife, Jennifer, of the home, daughters, Amber Evans and husband, Josh of TX, Chelsea Butler of TX, Jaiden Kohler and husband, Andrew of OK, Jorjah Butler of OK, Leisha Bonifant of OK, Lyricah Bonifant/Butler of OK, sons, Tyler Salcido and wife, Vanessa of OK, Codey Butler and wife, Jordan of TX, Joshuah Butler of OK, Isaiah Bonifant of OK, grandchildren, Demontre McDonald, of Oklahoma, Demitri Butler of TX, Joshua Evans of TX, Ella Crews of TX, Madisyn Evans of TX, Elijah Kohler of OK, Alivia Tullis of TX, Penelope Butler of TX, Ensley Kohler of OK, Emberlyn Kohler of OK, sister, Teresa Pratt and husband, Jason of TX, and brother, Jerry Butler and wife Debbie, of TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Liberty Butler, granddaughter, Whitney Butler and sister, Vickie Butler. A Celebration of Life for Kelly Butler will be held at 2:30 pm Monday, March 25th at Fort Gibson National Cemetery with Reverend Patrick Trusty officiating. Military honors will be observed.
