Maxine Davis Troutt

Born October 6, 1925 to Paul and Caroline (Nelson) Davis in Wheaton, MO, she passed from this world December 22, 2023 at the age of 98 to meet her Lord and Savior. She grew up in Missouri and later moved to Muskogee, OK with her twin sister, Morene. She married Jack Troutt Sr January 24, 1947, and spent the majority of her life in Fort Gibson, where she and Jack raised their four children. She worked at Teals Cleaners for a number of years, then worked at Gibson Discount store in Curts Shopping Mall. After the death of her husband, she became a caregiver. She was blessed with a giving heart and touched the lives of all she came in contact. She will forever leave a void. She loved to sew, creating dolls and doll clothes for all of the granddaughters, then began quilting. Her skill was exceptional. She also loved to refinish furniture, taking old pieces and making them new again. She passed her talents down to her children and grandchildren, who have followed in her creative footsteps. Her home was ‘the place’ for all the kids to go, and there was a steady stream of people in and out. She loved to go to singings with her friends and was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and the Old Fort Club. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son, Norman; brothers, Olen and Eugean; and sisters, Morene, Jean, Pauline, and Willadean. She is survived by sons, Jack Trout Jr and wife Linda of Claremore, OK, Dale Troutt and wife Linda of Fort Gibson, OK; daughter, Norma Cowden and husband Jerry of Hulbert, OK; granddaughters, Lisa Walkingstick and husband Robby, Sherry Bunn and Leann McElmurry; grandsons, John McElmurry 3rd and wife Tana, David Troutt, Dale Troutt Jr and wife Shelby, and Norman Jack Troutt; multiple great and great-great grandchildren, as well as a multitude of nieces, nephews and friends. A celebration of Maxine's life will be held 2PM Thursday, December 28, 2023 at the Citizens Cemetery Pavilion with Reverend Don Griffin officiating. John McElmurry 3rd, Dale Troutt, Jr., and Robby Walkingstick will serve as honorary casket bearers.
