Michael Shane Basham, 44, of Fort Gibson was born June 4, 1976 in Muskogee, OK to Paul Basham and Sharon Seay and peacefully passed away Friday, August 14, 2020 in Tulsa, OK. Michael grew up in Fort Gibson where he attended school. He was a mechanic by trade and could do anything. Michael loved his music, art, and was a Mixed Martial Artist. His passion in life was his family and spending time with his many friends. He will be missed by all that knew him. Michael is preceded in death by his grandmother, Lois Ivey; grandfather, Bennie Seay; stepdad, James Hughes; grandmother, Gracie Hughes and uncle, Gary Gipson. Those left to cherish his memory are his fiancé, Teresa Hollaway of Tulsa, OK; mother, Sharon Seay of Fort Gibson, OK; son, Dakota Basham of Muskogee, OK; daughter, Lexie (Basham) Omondi of Muskogee, OK; father, Paul Basham of Muskogee, OK; sister, Jennifer Heaslet of Fayetteville, AR; uncle and aunts, David & Cheryl Marshall of Stillwater, OK; Carol Hughes of Tahlequah, OK; Kenny Hughes of Oktaha, OK; Kathy Brotzman (Basham), John Michael Basham, Laurel Safran (Basham), Anthony Cowan, James & Debbie East, Randy & Judy Gipson, Kathy (Gipson) Nicoletta, Michael David & Tammy Gipson, Billy Ray & Jan Hughes, Jim & Denise Norris; grandparents, Dale & Darlene Cowan of Muskogee, OK; cousins, Kenny & Leslie Hughes, Kristen Hughes, Steven Marshall, Justin & Brooke Marshall, Luke Marshall, Brian & Jennifer Slader, Dennis & Chelise Slader, Jason & Shannon Gipson; many other loved Gipson family members and Hughes family members including cousins; Jamie, Mary, Tim, Aaron, Kelly, Katie, and Carrie; numerous other family members and many friends. In light of Covid-19 measures, we must limit our capacity at the Funeral Home to 50 people and therefore are asking friends to join us at the Cemetery. The family will celebrate Michael’s life at 1PM Thursday, August 20, 2020 at the Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Gibson with Deacon James Woods officiating. Friends are invited for committal prayers and interment at 2:15PM in the Citizens Cemetery in Fort Gibson with Bobby Lafavor, Bryan Lafavor, Daron Casey, Tim Casey, Steven Marshall, and Justin Marshall serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers are Luke Marshall, Kenny Hughes Sr, Kenny Hughes II, Aaron Norris, Tim Norris, Eric Wells, and David Martin.
