Thomas 'Tom' Lee Self

Thomas “Tom” Lee Self, 80, of Fort Gibson, OK was born September 23, 1941, in Detroit, MI to Howard and Ada (Mounts) Self and passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2022, in Muskogee, OK. Tom received his formal education from Fort Gibson High School. He was a member of the First Presbyterian church and a member of the Muskogee Swingers Square Dance Club. He retired from Union Metal Iron Works after 30 years of service, as a welder. Tom was interested in everything outdoors. From small time gardens to big time farming, and even fishing here and there, Tom liked to be outside. While he was outdoors, he would also play baseball with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. If there was a family event, Tom was going to be there. Additionally, Tom enjoyed wood working and carpentry. He will be missed by all that knew him. Tom is survived by his daughter, Tye Wilks and husband, Gary of Oktaha, OK; grandchildren, Tracy Patterson and husband, Joey of Oktaha, Judy Yetter and husband, David of Muskogee, OK, Bubba Lone and wife, Mele of Fort Gibson; great-grandchildren, Destin, Starr, Tye Tye, Evynn, Trevor, Brooks, Grady, Kaden, Leila and great great-grandchild, Little Tye; sisters, Linda Igert and husband David of Fort Gibson, and Kathy Scott of Muskogee; his brother, Kenneth Self of Broken Arrow; extended family and many friends. Tom is preceded in death by his wife, Judy; his parents; a brother, Ted Self, and sister-in-law, Loretta Self. Viewing will be 1PM-7PM, Thursday, March 3, 2022, at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home in Fort Gibson. A celebration of Tom’s life will be held 1PM Friday, March 4, 2022, at the First Presbyterian Church in Fort Gibson with Dana Bailey and Tom’s grandson, Bubba Lone officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow at Starnes Cemetery in Fort Gibson with Destin Covey, Tye Covey, Joey Patterson, Dustan Heath, David Yetter and Bubba Lone serving as casket bearers.
